No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"The latest Blu-Ray player from Samsung is compact, and has loads of features, however it doesn't work. This unit played 1 movie and 2 music CD's before it stopped working. I took it back to the store, exchanged it for a brand new unit, and this time it only played 1 CD before it crashed.
If you want a compact player that fits in a small space and looks great, then this is a good unit. If you are looking for a product that actually plays discs, then this is not the unit for you!"

Ok but needs improvement

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"Device is ok but needs improvement. Im used to get high quality products from Samsung and I have been a little disapointed with my last 2 BluRay players from Samsung (BD-5700 & BD-7000)
1- When viewing pictures over DLNA (wired network), the transision between pictures is too slow and unpleasant to view. Not sure if it needs a GigE ethernet port or faster software/hardware
2- The device is not seen as a DLNA (PLAY TO) device over the local network. Even from Smasung devices, you can not play photos, movies or songs on BD player from Samsung Allshare. Seems to be a bad integration between Samsung products.
3- Finaly, It seem like its missing some CODECS to play HD movies over DLNA from my media server.
I hope Samsung will address these issues with updates. Im still confident and trust them for there usual support. Whith these fixes, this would be a interesting and well integrated product.
