"I love this phone, and Samsung products in general! I had had an iphone, and the Samsung Android phones are far superior! This phone is easy to learn & use. A ton of free apps (more than for iphone). Lots of free music (more than for iphone). I use this phone for everything - phone calls, texts, email, alarm clock, daily planner/organizer, games, music, calorie counter, weight loss planner, navigational tool, .... etc ... just absolutely everything! I will never go to another brand of phone!"

"I have very few qualms about this phone. It is user-friendly, it is not too big or too small, the touch screen is easy to use and has never been finicky. I haven't had any trouble with the phone freezing or having a mind of its own. It DOES have a short battery life, but I am sure that is characteristic of most smartphones. I can check my emails, play games, check the news and weather, look up phone numbers and addresses, etc. The only thing I could possibly complain about is the limited ability to power internet usage when cell service is lower than optimal. However, for my purposes this has rarely been a big issue. I have taken this phone traveling for use as my camera, and while in an Otter Box it is nearly indestructible! Great sound quality, excellent volume for phone calls, and I love both the ability to do other things while talking on the phone AND the ability to use the phone as a WiFi hotspot. It has bailed me out of tricky situations numerous times! Overall, an excellent phone with very few issues."

"4 years ago when I was getting my first smartphone I had narrowed it down to two phones the Samsung Galaxy and the Motorola DEXT. I decided to go with the DEXT because it had a slide out keyboard and I thought that I wouldn't be able to use a virtual one. What a mistake that was, the phone had one problem after another until it just stopped working. When it came time to replace it I picked the SII and I haven't been disappointed yet. The camera is great, the screen size and colour amazing and the phone itself is lightweight. I love all of the apps that I can download and the speed of the phone is excellent. I definitely made the right choice this time!"

Overall it could do a lot of things i threw at it. Pictures- no problem, video - full hd, screen- crisp clear, and visible in sunlight.
The things that could be perfected are :
-overheating around back camera area while using
-ability to zoom in and out in full hd
- same recording area in full hd as in hd (now the full HD records only a portion that can be seen in HD)

"I got this phone in December of last year, 2 days after my birthday. I've been very pleased with this phone since day one. My only complaints I had early on were that it heated up quite a bit, and the version of TouchWiz it was using was awful. About a month after having this phone, I began to get into rooting and installing ROMs. That is one of the most wonderful thing about Android, and most specifically Samsung, as you can do this stuff easily. That said, I was worried I bricked my phone after I accidentally and unknowingly flashed a GT-I9100G firmware. And I've had about to other close calls with brickage, Both my fault, and not the phones. Even though I almost killed my phone, with help, it rebounded and was perfectly usable again. I feel that that is a testament to the resilience and life that good Samsung phones have. And with Jelly bean and the new TouchWiz UX, this phone is definitely looking pertty. Love my phone, and while I can't wait to upgrade, the freedom I have with Samsung and Android is more than enough to keep me from doing something stupid."

"I love this phone it's easy to use. I switched from a Samsung Impact and the transition was smooth (I got this as a gift) I always wanted it when it first came out but didn't have the funds... I told my friends and family about it and one of my friends got one and loves it. so when I got mine it was very easy to get use to. I called my cell company about my bill then I started having problems, I had no problems with this phone before the call, until then I started not receiving some of my text's and picture text, it was there for a about a week or too I called my cell company back and they said it would not work with my package, it was fine till they found out about it, so I told them I was going back to my old cell, and I did that for a few day, then tried my galaxy S II again and its been working every with no problems since. So to me they just wanted me to update my package. All and all the phone is great and I love it."

"I am a huge fan of Android and Samsung makes the best phones for this market. I tried the note but found it a little to big to be a phone, but perfect if you like a tab. I upgraded from the samsung vibrant to my current GalaxySII. Its dual core, great camera with flash, HD video, thinner design. It has now become the perfect phone since getting Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade. I can get thru a whole day on one charge as long as I dont use the display to much as you might do if using the web."

"This phone is amazing, with it's beautiful display, high speed dual core processor, and Android 4.0 it has everything anyone could want from it! The included Samsung Apps are great and make for a great experience ontop of Android! ChatON is a great app, the future of texting. I used my phone without a case for months with not a scratch on the screen, the Gorilla Glass display is super durable for day to day use!"

"I'm what I like to call a HARD user.... meaning my phones rarely last me 6 months. I drop them (rarely on purpose), sit on them, and in some cases, drop them in roads where cars may hit them before I can save them.... That being said... my SII, did in fact get hit by a car, and stepped on all in the same night. I am happy to say that the phone screen BARELY cracked, and Sll works like a dream... WELL worth the investment.
I do not however, suggest testing that.... not everyone has the luck I do."

"this is quite possibly the best phone ever made. lets start with that beautiful 4.3 inch super amoled plus screen which is the best screen i have seen on a mobile device. the colours really pop out the screen and is great for watching videos and viewing photos. talking of photos, i have spme i took with a much lower specs camera phone and this phone makes them look a load better just because of the fantastic screen it offers. secondly the design, some people say it is unappealing but i absolutely love it, the all black finish with the lovely textured back looks very nice in my opinion. the back refuses to scratch so so does the screen as it uses gorilla glass which is astonishing. it has too many features go go into detail about in this review but there is not one feature i dislike, samsung touchwiz also is fantastic and easy to use and navigate. the camera is the best i have ever seen and i dont mean just from phone cameras either. overall this phone is perfect and it goes with me everywhere."

"I love this phone, I have had it for four months now, on the Bell/Virgin Network and am very happy with my purchase. I am running 2.3.3 still but I get 8 hours of heavy use out of the battery. Battery life is not an issue for me anyway due to the fact that I know the more power you have at your fingertips the more draining you will due to the battery. That being said, I think 8 hours non-stop is amazing for the tiny battery cell in this phone. I was a Blackberry fanatic before I went to Android and I am not disappointed with my decision in the least. Everyone I have demoed my phone to (fellow used to be Blackberry Users) have dropped their devices and also switched to Samsung/Android devices.
I also love how I can easily show the pictures/videos/music I take on my phone to my Samsung television using AllShare."

"The Samsung Galaxy S II has an exceptional Super AMOLED Plus screen with great colours and very fast response time. The con of having it, would be the outdated WVGA resolution (480 x 800), but it is manageable due to the 50% increase of subpixels brought by the sAMOLED+ display. Another pro of this superphone is the processor. The Exynos 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core processor is extremely fast and handles 3D gaming amazing. The cameras on the Galaxy S II are also a major breaktrough. A front facing 2MP camera is at the top of the smartphone market, and its 8MP back camera captures professional quality pictures. Overall, the Galaxy S II is very strong superphone.

"its very good phone i have found a few problems, first the battery will consume in regular use about 8 hours .
the phone heats up standing alone.
the speaker on the back its very bad placed, if u place your pone looking up, you bearely hear it ringing.
y u put your hand over the speaker its like full mute.
the camera flash its too strong pictures come out completly white or blu if image too close.
video camera takes too long to focus.
in other hand the phone is extremely fast, picture in regular light are awesome, screen is awesome (but battery drainer)

"The camera offers decent resolution, but poor zoom functions. However, I like that it does not distort the image. The phone is a bit glitchy sometimes; often will not send or receive text messages and has poor reception. I wish that the phone offered personalized ringtones for certain people in my contacts and notification signals for text messages and calls. Overall, a great phone and I would definitely recommend to others."

"I love this phone it's easy to use. I switched from a blackberry to this and the transition was smooth (I got this as a gift when my blackberry stopped working) and in no time I got used to it. I had no problems with this phone until a couple of months ago a red line started appearing, it was there for a few days and then went away. Recently it started to come and go and now it has been almost a two weeks and the line still won't go away. Overall a very good product if you can overlook this part of the phone (it doesn't bother me as much anymore) but I will definitely upgrade to a different phone when my plan expires."

Returned to Samsung for warranty and came back with same poor battery life. A fully charged battery will drain within an hour of regular use. I have an app that allows me to see what ever programs are running in the back ground and allows me to exit one or all programs so I can get the most out of my battery. But still with only one program running, I may get an hour tops out of this phone before it starts beeping and warning me of soon to die battery. Besides this, I find that this is an excellent and very smart phone."

"This is a truly great phone, and I would mention it to anybody looking for a phone. I have had no problems with the phones performance, and it can take anything I throw at it. It is much tougher than any other smartphone I have have owned or seen, the screen does not scratch. I work every day in a heavy industrial job, and this phone does not even look a day old yet. For hardware, this phone beats the iphone 4s hands down. The only problem is that the syncing software for music, videos, and apps just simply is horrible. I was really expecting more out of the design team, and coming from using itunes all the time to Kies has been like pulling teeth. This phone's features and value would be at 5 stars if it were not for the overly bad performance of Kies. Overall, great phone, specs, performance, and durability, but poor media syncing software."

"The phone worked superbly until I let Kies install Android 4.0.3 It started rebooting randomly for no reason and shutting off the Wifi and Bluetooth. Also Kies does not appear to be available in ICS. Kies will connect to the phone when plugged in and I am able to copy files back and forth but backup crashes on the phone. The Kies Air works fine but does not allow backup of the phone that I can see. Under the advice of a Bell Tech I reset the phone to factory default and have slowly been reinstalling my Apps. So far no reboots but Kies still will not backup the phone. I would have rated the phone 5/5 until the update to ICS."

Canada with Virgin Mobile HORRIBLE BATTERY LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"This is a great phone with many great features and apps but what is the most important feature with all mobile devices? Yes how long we will get out of the battery before we need to charge it! for that reason alone I rate this phone a 1 but if Virgin own up to the problem and fix it I would change my rating to a 5. Please fix the issue before I have no choice but to switch to the i-phone 5 coming soon."
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, poor battery life

Awesome phone, bugs in battery life in Canada

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"Great phone, does everything really well, except battery life. On top of the 2.3.3 battery drain issues which seem somewhat separate from the wifi sharing bug (full charge to dead as in doornail batter in 4 hours). The bug is intermittent, but the whole point of a mobile phone is to go places where you don't have to plug it in. Until the the update rolls out in Canada, my new phone will be collecting dust.
Until the battery issues are resolved the phone is not useable for me. I'm going to have to have my previous phone reactivated, as much as this phone is so much better, a live phone beats a battery dead brick any day."
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, goodawfully fast
Cons: Did not meet expectations, bell canada will not release software update

Awesome phone with a serious battery drain flaw

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"This is arguably the best mobile phone I've ever seen in EVERY aspect except one, battery life. I've had two different models and both gave me about 2 hours of talk and about 12 hours on standby. The second had NO apps installed at all beside the apps that came with the phone, with WiFi and APN network disabled.
There is a known bug, acknowledged by Google concerning some phones with Gingerbread 2.3.3. Other Samsung Galaxy S 2 around the world have been upgraded to 2.3.4 with marked battery life improvements but the Canadian Bell / Virgin model still has no upgrade firmware. In fact, the original stock firmware isn't available either, which has been published for nearly every other version of this phone around the world but Canada.
As it is, this phone is unusable and sadly I cannot recommend it until the firmware is fixed. Please release the the original stock so we can at least upgrade the firmware ourselves and/or issue the firmware other countries already have. I will gladly change my review to a very positive version if you do so."
