No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"Works well when the batteries aren't dead!! Which unfortunately is Very Often!!
Also, the remote can be slow to respond to Qwerty input, which requires waiting for the remote to load after flipping it over to activate the Qwerty Keyboard."

Power source for this remote needs to be redesigned

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"This would have been an excelent remote, if it's power source was properly designed. This remote goes through batteries, like a hungry beast. 16 batteries in 5 months. Only the IR remote has been used and this t.v. has less than 24 hrs. of use.Recent discovery.The 4 batteries are used to create 2 parallel 3 volts supplies. Beeing in the electronics feild, I've always understood that this is not good. This device is mostly dormant. Slight differences in voltage can create current loops which drain batteries."

Cons: Did not meet expectations, battery life
